The Feast of Corpus Christi is linked to the event that has made Bolsena famous throughout the world: the Eucharistic Miracle; remembered and venerated as the Eucharistic prodigy par excellence, which took place in 1263 in the Basilica of Santa Cristina. In 1264, Pope Urbano IV, driven by this event, issued the “Bull Transiturus” from Orvieto with which he extended the Feast of Corpus Christi to the whole of Christendom.

The feast of Corpus Christi takes place with an articulated program that sees various events and involvement of associations and propalation. Tradition blends with faith and creates a unique and characterizing event for the city of Bolsena.

The celebrations begin on the Thursday before the festival, with the parade of the associations of the city of Bolsena and end in the Basilica with the exhibition of the Holy Stone.

For several years the March of Faith has been taking place, on Saturday evenings, which starting from Bolsena arrives at the Cathedral of Orvieto, where the Corporal is kept, in the early hours of the morning.

On the day of the feast of Corpus Christi, the streets and squares of the historic center from early morning are, for about 3 km, covered with paintings and floral carpets, thus adorning the route of the solemn Procession, for one of the most awaited and heartfelt events of the Bolsena community. The Procession then winds through the whole town, with great popular participation and the Sacred Stone, stained with the Miraculous Blood, crosses streets and squares covered with colorful floral carpets
